The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office received a call about a reported domestic assault on Rosewood Drive in Lexington Park, Maryland, just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found 25-year-old Alaysia Janell Milburn suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, Milburn succumbed to her injuries at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. Tragically, a 7-month-old infant was also present at the scene and was transported to the hospital, though thankfully without any reported injuries.
High-Speed Chase and Confrontation
Witnesses reported that a man in a Hyundai Kona had fled the scene of the domestic assault. Deputies immediately pursued the vehicle, which was heading northbound on Route 5. The chase quickly escalated, with the Charles and Calvert County Sheriff's Offices, as well as the Maryland State Police, joining the pursuit as the man crossed into Charles County.The chase came to a dramatic conclusion on Prince Frederick Road in Hughesville, where a Calvert County deputy crashed into the man's car, rendering it inoperable. The man quickly exited his vehicle, only to get back in and fire a shot. Deputies found the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and immediately performed lifesaving measures, transporting him to a nearby hospital. Tragically, the man was pronounced dead just before 1 p.m.

The identity of the man involved in the incident has not yet been released, as investigators are waiting to notify his next of kin.
